First Frieslanders harvested in Ouddorp

Polder Potato from Dronten picked up the first Frieslanders of the season in Ouddorp this week. The new potatoes were grown by Mts. de Jong and Anton Riezebos of Polder Potato. The first crop harvested by Sjoerd de Jong were from a plot between the dykes where the early potatoes grew quickly.

When asked about his expectations for the new potato season, Anton replied: "This largely depends on the weather. If it stays dry, we will have another shortage, but if it rains, there will be more than enough potatoes on the market, considering the expansion in the Netherlands, but also in surrounding countries."

"The old season, however, has finished earlier than we expected, so the demand for new Dutch potatoes as well as imported potatoes will come quickly. We sold the first boxes to Willem Dijk AGF this morning," concludes Anton.
