1,300 kilos of cherries stolen in Badajoz have been seized

The Local Police of Badajoz has seized 1,300 kilos of cherries from a street vendor, as the fruit's origin wasn't documented by the man, who selling them illegally.

Suspecting that the cherries were stolen from some farm in Extremadura, the police decided to intervene and seize the fruit. The man was marketing the cherries without them undergoing any sanitary controls, which can be a health issue for consumers.

The seized fruit will be placed at the disposal of the municipal pharmaceutical and veterinary services, which will determine whether it will be destroyed or, if suitable for consumption, it will be supplied to the soup kitchens of the province's capital.
