After the drought, tornadoes

Dominican Republic: A tornado damages Montecristi's banana plantations

Banana plantations in the Dominican province of Montecristi were affected by the passage of a tornado accompanied by hail on Sunday afternoon. The weather event also affected various homes and the health center of the town of Guayubin, where the much of the region was left without power.

The damage in the agricultural areas destined to the banana production still haven't been quantified economically, although the violence of the tornado has caused numerous damages to the trees and the fruits.

The area had previously been affected by the drought, which means the farmers have been hit by misfortune for the second time so far this season.
