A number of growers in Serbia are part of the company abbGrowers Serbia. “We want to continue expanding our network of growers in Serbia because we’re striving for a position in the top five of blueberry suppliers with a complete range,” says Fred Douven, CEO of abbGrowers.
“We chose Serbia because this is an excellent operating base for the Balkans. This fits our expansion plans to supply in Eastern Europe, but also as a global player for deliveries to the Middle East. With the cooperation of the grower, we can control the entire process. From planting the blueberry bush to when the blueberries are harvested. We guide the grower and provide good and reliable advice. For the entire logistical process as well, right up to when the customer receives their order. Refrigeration is very important for that, as it guarantees the freshness of the blueberries,” Fred says.
“The Serbian growers are much better off with us than with their traditional Serbian buyers. They get better information, support and prices from us. The short line and control of the quality ensure we can offer the best price/quality proportion,” Fred emphasises.
“A good opportunity to come into contact with more blueberry growers in Serbia is the participation in the International Agricultural Fair in Novi Sad in Serbia. The fair takes place from 11 to 17 May, and we’ll be present in the Holland Pavilion. There, we can explain to interested parties what we do and what we offer.”
