Van der Windt Verpakking:

Netherlands: “CartoPaper prevents the product dehydrating and encourages recycling”

Potatoes, onions, bulbs and other agrarian products make high demands on packaging in the field of shelf life, sustainability and processing. As developer of innovative, sustainable packaging, Van der Windt Verpakking presents CartoPaper. Thanks to the good qualities of the paper, the packed products keep their good condition, resulting in less loss (waste). Moreover, the bags have been made from renewable materials, so they’re completely recyclable after use, which also results in less waste.

Preventing dehydration
The especially developed paper is strong even when wet. This means the material is moisture-proof, but not absorbing. Because of this, hardly any moisture is extracted from the packed product, preventing dehydration. Besides, paper is a naturally breathable material and doesn’t let in any light; a must to maintain the harvested quality of the fresh products. The bag has been equipped with a viewing window by means of large perforations shaped like a rosette, so that consumers can see the products. The paper also has a very high tearing resistance. With CartoPaper, the products are well protected and remain in excellent condition.

Recycling
CartoPaper encourages recycling. The bags are FSC-certified and made from 100% renewable materials. The spot coating allows the paper to be sealed. The share of this material is so low (<5%) it dissolves during the paper’s recycling process. CartoPaper has therefore been approved as a mono-material, and can be recycled with old paper after use.

Handling fully automatically
The packaging is suitable for fully automatic horizontal and vertical shape-filling and sealing machines. The packaging is available in a filling weight up 2.5 kilos. The machine can be adjusted relatively easily, so that the machine can handle plastic in addition to CartoPaper as well.

Remarkable shelf presentation
The bags of CartoPaper are suitable as brand packaging. The material is full-colour printable in six colours. Besides, the paper is popular among consumers. The natural look of the material reinforces the pure, fair and responsible experience.
