Dutch blueberry sorter sends juice to Asia for the first time

"abbGrowers sorts and packages blueberries and has many international contacts. We cultivate blueberries too. We are also the only grower in the Netherlands that makes its own blueberry juice - b-berry juice," says Suzanne Douven. She is the b-berry marketing and research specialist at abbGrowers. “Our first delivery of this 100% pure blueberry juice has just been successfully received by a client in Taiwan."

Once the blueberries have been harvested, they are taken to abbGrowers' packaging warehouse and sorted. Here, innovative machines are used to distinguish between the blueberries' various quality aspects. These aspects include their ripeness, color, and size. Very few blueberries are wasted. This is because almost all the fruits are usable, thanks to this sorting process. In this, some blueberries are selected to be processed into juice or jam.

“b-berry juice is professionally pressed and bottled, using advanced apparatus. From 1kg of blueberries, 750 ml of b-berry juice is pressed. The juice is made up of 100% blueberries. Scientific research has shown that the health aspects of this juice do not change during the processing process. In fact, the antioxidants increase slightly during the heating process," Suzanne explains.

“We supply our juice to clients all over the world. For example, we recently delivered a nice-sized order in Taiwan," adds Huub Welles, who is the Sales Manager at abbGrowers. “This first order was for eight pallets of 100% pure blueberry b-berry juice. These were packaged in 250 and 750ml bottles. The client is delighted with our product."

"There, they pay particular attention to the pure taste and the health aspects. In Asia, branding is very important. This also applies to our client. How the product looks on the outside is almost as important as what is on the inside. There is also a lot of trust in Western products. We do not expect to wait too long for follow-up orders," he concludes.
