Innovation has been key in 2018

Spain: Hinojosa achieves 13% growth in turnover and is close to 400 M€

The turnover of the Spanish firm Hinojosa reached 399 million Euro in 2018; 13% more than in 2017, when it stood at 353 million. This increase has been based on the group's focus in five areas: the customer, innovation, specialization, efficiency and social value.

This growth, of an organic nature, follows the success of the integration of the latest plants incorporated into the group and the strategy of orienting the entire organization to providing value to the client.

Agility, differentiation and closeness to the customer, keys to growth
During 2018, Hinojosa has continued investing in technology in order to renovate its industrial park and ensure all plants can offer high-quality printing. In this way, the group has improved its agility in responding to its customers, as well as its flexibility and adaptability.

Along with its investments in technology, the group has also continued its vertical integration. The consolidation of the paper mill in Sarrià, together with the good functioning of the Alquería plant, have allowed paper production to increase by 16% compared to 2017 and to double since 2015, guaranteeing greater autonomy and stability in the supply.

Innovation has been key in the group's strategy during 2018 in all areas of the company.

In addition to the economic and human resources dedicated to promoting innovation internally, important projects, open to external collaborators, such as Intralab, have also been launched.

All the work carried out in this field over the past year has resulted in packaging solutions and services that respond to the new demands of both customers and the final consumer. During 2018 Hinojosa has launched several of these solutions, such as DailyBox®, a wide range of primary packaging formats and Visual Perfomance Go:

  • Dailybox® is a packaging solution made from 100% recyclable and sustainable corrugated cardboard, designed to facilitate purchases from supermarkets and stores and home delivery.
  • The primary packaging range launched by Hinojosa in 2018 is intended to help eliminate single use plastics and promote more sustainable alternatives.
  • Visual Perfomance Go is a mobile virtual reality tool developed in 2018 which has already started to be implemented in 2019. This service allows the customer to interact with the packaging of the products in a virtual supermarket and even make changes to its color, design, structure, etc.

In 2018, Hinojosa has bet on a circular economy strategy, with aspects such as the purchase of raw materials, the design and manufacturing or waste management all under the radar. The results of this business approach will be made public in 2019 in the company's Corporate Social Responsibility report.
