FruitMasters will close the year well with a good turnover growth and positive results, despite the frost damage causing a smaller harvest across the nation. FruitMasters made 8 percent more turnover last year. This is due to the higher prices for fruit. The turnover of the sales organisation went from 222.2 million to 235.7 million Euro.
FruitMasters is thinking about the possibilities for the future from the side of of cultivation and want to define themselves with concept varieties. After Kanzi, FruitMasters launched Migo, and came up with Tessa in 2018 and provided a sneak peak at the new apple #62. Old plots are being harvested and make way for varieties suitable for the market, close by and further away. FruitMasters supports its members with new cultivation methods and efficient growing protocols. FruitMasters is invested with the sector in getting an achievable certification scheme for PlanetProof. In 2018 a wide, successful pilot was rolled out to completely implement PlanetProof in 2019.
International market processing
A healthy spread of sales and defining concepts are the key to success for the cooperation. This is why FruitMasters' fruit is available not only in the Netherlands and Europe, but also in destinations like South America, the Middle East and Asia. "We find the right destination for all of the fruit our growers produce. The sales ensure continuity in outflow with the right result. Even when the supply is larger than the demand."
FruitMasters supply their customers with the shortest possible 'fresh' chain. This requires continual efficient and innovative solutions. In April the cooperation opened the renewed sorting and packaging station for soft fruit. The machines that were placed then now package 80% of the soft fruit in resealable topseal packaging. Both FruitMasters and its members sees challenges in the changing market of temporary workers and rising wages. FruitMasters plays into this with mechanisation and automation of the packaging station. The organisation also invested in the chillers with the renovation and partial new construction of Chiller 2. With the renewals that were made FruitMasters is playing into the turnover growth and taking steps towards an even more sustainable future.
Last summer was extremely warm and dry and the effects in the cultivation are noticeable. The income of our members were different in 2018, depending on the availability of the product. The weather had a large influence on the price level of the various product groups. FruitMasters realised a good turnover growth of 8 percent in 2018. The year has concluded with a positive result. During the General Members Meeting on April 18 the results of 2018 were presented and approved by the members.
