Republic of Georgia: Increased production of crops, vegetables & fruits in 2018

In 2018, the production of crops, vegetables and fruits increased in 2018 in Georgia, show the preliminary data of 2018 published by Georgia’s National Statistics Office Geostat.

In this last year, Georgia produced 218,100 tons potato (+21.1%) In that same year, production of top fruit amounted to 86,200 tons in Georgia, which is 3.3 times higher than in the same period of the previous year, according to Geostat.

Meanwhile, in 2018 production of grapes increased by 44.8% year-on-year reaching 261,800 tons. Other large fruit crops were: stone fruit - 46,000 tons (-2.4% compared to 2017), subtropical fruit - 15,500 tons (+19.3%), citrus – 67,400 tons (+15.8%) and nuts - 21,900 tons (-12.2%).
