The Carolina Reaper pepper is considered to be the hottest pepper in the world, with 300 times more pungency than the jalapeño pepper.
The participants in a contest in New York, USA, proved their bravery by ingesting a large quantity of Carolina Reaper peppers.
The winner of this contest was Wayne Alegnio, who managed to eat 96 grams of pepper in less than a minute.
In an interview after the feat he said: "I feel as if my body is burning and I do not know if I will ever do the same again. I feel bad, this is going to be bad."
The Carolina Reaper was declared the world's hottest chili pepper and has been registered as such in the Guinness Book of Records since 2013.
According to the Scoville scale, which measures the degree of hotness of peppers or chili peppers, the Carolina Reaper has 1,641,183 units; in other words, it is 300 times more spicy than a jalapeño pepper.
