The 2019 Haikou Volcanic Lychee Auction took place in Qiongshan District of Haikou on April 13th, in the afternoon. Visiting traders from all over China participated in the auction. There were traditional retailers, online traders, new retailers, and representatives from supermarket chains. Together they signed trade deals for an overall supply volume of 27.25 million kg of Haikou volcanic lychee with a trade value of 653 million yuan [97.29 million USD]. It is worth noting that the first purchase of "Concubine Smile" exceeded 20 yuan [2.98 USD] per 0.5 kg, while the first purchase of "Lychee King" exceeded 60 yuan [8.94 USD] per 0.5 kg. That is a record price for a single item purchase of volcanic lychee from Haikou.
