In 2018, the company France Champignon revised its range of fresh products for the fruit and vegetable shelves. “We changed our black trays for fully recyclable green packaging, made from recycled plastic,” explains Chris Chamballu, sales manager of the company. “We also created a mascot ‘Chef Champi’ to liven up our range all year round.”
A 100% French product
“For the packaging, we chose the green color to reflect the naturalness of the mushroom and to differentiate ourselves from black or blue, the European colors usually used. When buying green France Champignon trays, consumers are certain they are supporting French producers.”
France Champignon recently introduced “Les p’tits marinés”, situated in the product range IV. “Les p’tits marinés fit the new consumption habits of consumers searching for healthy and natural products. The plant-based appetizer market is growing strongly (+25% per year), attracting a new clientele, made of young flexitarians, vegetarians and vegans,” explains Chris.
“With ‘Les p’tits marinés’, we are responding to their expectations. It is a natural product, without preservatives. The mushrooms’ quality is preserved by the olive oil and the vinegar and the marinade is made from natural condiments. With this complete and coherent range of products, we wish to defend and promote the expertise of our French producers from the Loire Valley.”
“France Champignon is the French leader in portobello mushrooms destined for industry and the supermarket shelves, with a production of 60,000 tons per year.”
