Karin Barendse steps down as liaison and promoter

Orange bell pepper season starts

Orange bell peppers, grown in Dutch soil, are available from March to October. Every year, the farmers of the Orange Bell Pepper Association (OPV) set up a promotion plan. This plan is set up to inform consumers and retailers about this tasty, and most importantly, super-healthy fruit-vegetable.

At the recently held AGM, the OPV put Karin Barendse in the limelight. "She has been our point of contact for the past 22 years. She has worked enthusiastically hard to promote orange bell peppers. She organized shop demos, and participation at the Floriade, Keukenhof, and fruit and vegetable trade shows. Then there is Kom in de Kas (Come into the Greenhouse), working with retailers, fruit and vegetable traders and greengrocers, and 100%NL. These are just some of the activities Karen took part in. She also laid down valuable contacts with doctors, opticians, and dieticians."

Karin received a bouquet of flowers, thanking her for her input now that her career is taking a different turn.

OPV thanks Karin Barendse for her input and wishes her well in her new career.

For the current cultivation season, the OPV has formed a partnership with De Hippe Vegetariƫr (The Hip Vegetarian). The face behind this food blog is Isabel Boerman. She is one of the most influential vegetarian bloggers in the Netherlands. Isabel is also the brains behind the Dutch National Week without Meat initiative.

Cooperation with influencers is central to the OPV's marketing plan. They must highlight all the tasty, yet healthy aspects of the orange bell pepper. They must also inspire consumers with original recipes. Thanks to its sweet, juicy taste, this fruit is popular with old and young, alike. The orange bell pepper also comes into its own in many recipes. Besides the part of the influencers, OPV will also start a PR campaign.
