Thai Ministry encourages promotion of Thai fruit abroad to lower price pressure

The Ministry of Commerce in Thailand requests all its consuls stationed abroad to increase the number of promotional activities for Thai fruit. This is to lower the pressure on prices after an abundant harvest. Two fruits that enjoyed particularly large harvests this year were mangosteen and durian.

Data from the ministry shows that eastern provinces in Thailand enjoyed a high yield of several typical tropical fruits. The production volume of mangosteen increased the most, followed by durian, rambutan, and longan. The biggest export markets for these types of Thai fruit are in Asia, for example, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

The promotional season is already underway in many Chinese cities such as Guangzhou, Xiamen, Kunming, Nanning, Qingdao, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and Chengdu.
