Ukraine: Lack of onions provokes another price hike

A noticeable increase in demand for onions finally enables Ukrainian farmers to raise their prices for these products. From the beginning of this week, in the Ukrainian market onions on average saw a 25% price increase.

Where last week the main sales in this segment went down at 10-14 UAH / kg ($ 0.37- 0.52 / kg), today even prices for non-quality products will not drop below 12 UAH / kg ($ 0, 45 / kg).

High-quality onions, both local and imported, are not offered for less than 16-18 UAH / kg ($ 0.60-0.67 / kg). So at this moment, onions in the Ukrainian market are costing on average 4.5 times more than in the first half of April 2018.
