Mengla County in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, suffered from a sudden hailstorm in the afternoon of April 8th, 2019. The hailstorm affected more than 53 hectares of banana plantations and rubber plantations, causing damage to the trees. The hailstones were not that large, though, and the damage was limited. Banana farmers were able to control the situation. Furthermore, most banana production areas in Xishuangbanna already approach the end of their production season. The financial damage was therefore not large. However, the price of some of the bananas that suffered through the hailstorm may be affected.
