Analysis of week 14 in the Chinese apple market

Week 14, on the eve of Tomb-Sweeping Day [April 5th, 2019], saw an increase in the speed of supply. However, excessive rainfall still slowed down the overall volumes. The main supply of apples to the Chinese market came from production areas in Shandong, with additional supply from Shaanxi and Gansu. Some regional markets, such as the apple markets in Guangdong and Guangxi, showed a preference for apples from Shaanxi and Gansu. This resulted in a relatively high prices for the small volumes available. However, that price increase was limited.

The Shandong supply volume was relatively large and consisted mainly of medium and large apples. Although demand increases around Tomb-Sweeping Day, the market was well-stocked and the price remained stable. The overall market price was stable as supply and demand were stable, but some regional markets and some product varieties still showed a price increase.
