The undersecretary of Public Safety, Carlos Gomez Arrieta, met on Monday, April 8th, with members of the Association of Producers, Packers of Avocado of Mexico, APEAM, to delineate an efficient strategy for the safe transportation of merchandise.
The head of the operational area of the SSP agreed with the entrepreneurs to increase the presence of the authorities along the stretches of road and municipalities of the avocado strip, to reduce the theft of the product in orchards and tractors.
The undersecretary reminded the attendees of the importance of establishing communication channels designed to denounce assaults, robbery, or any other crime of which they or their employees are latent victims, as that will facilitate the immediate reaction of the police corporations.
"Two factors influence guaranteeing the safety of all the people in Michoacan: prevention, with the presence of authorities, and citizen participation. This includes people trusting the system when protesting, because the first minutes are crucial. That's why I make this call so that we can look for ways to improve our communications," said Gomez Arrieta.
He also said that in recent days there had been an increase in the number of stolen vehicles and merchandise in municipalities such as Uruapan.
