It is important to note that imported European plums from Chile are only available between January and March, while domestic European plums from Xinjiang become available in mid-summer around July and August. The current retail price of European plums in the Chinese market is around 10 yuan [1.49 USD] per 0.5 kg. The highest price for European plums is around 20 yuan [2.98 USD] per 0.5 kg. The prices in large-scale supermarkets are significantly higher than in farmer's markets.
