Sicily strengthens agricultural exports to Chinese market

The Italian Minister of Agriculture, Gian Marco Centinaio, recently participated in the 30th Representative Meeting of the Italian Chef's Federation, which took place in the Sicilian port city Catania. The main topic of this meeting was the recent trade agreement that Sicily signed with China.

The importance of "made in Italy"
The Italian website Asicilia.it reported that excellent product quality is the basis for development of trade between Sicily and China. Centinaio proudly added that "the superior product quality of agricultural products from Sicily is an important aspect of the strength of "made in Italy". The development of Sicilian export to China will lead the way for further export of Italian foods and drinks to China."

Sicilian blood oranges arrive in China
The first shipment of Sicilian blood oranges recently entered the Chinese market and received enthusiastic, positive feedback from Chinese consumers. Centinaio, however, was not yet satisfied: "The export of Sicilian blood oranges is a great first step, but it is not nearly enough. We are currently discussing additional export of other agricultural products with our Chinese counterparts. The export of blood oranges is a stepping stone. Looking from a business development perspective China represents huge market potential."
