Positive start if the year for Trocadero lettuce: the market performed well until 16th-17th February then, afterwards, the trend changed, especially for exports. The same happened with kohlrabi and radishes. The campaign is anyway ending for all three products.
"The main cause is the weather: the warm temperatures in Germany and in Eastern Europe did not favor consumption, so exports suffered. Many heads remained unsold and, while kohlrabi had a rather normal price (€4-5 per crate), that of radishes was generally low," explains Salvatore Iodice from Iodice.
At the moment, the company is transitioning from autumn-winter to spring-summer crops. The pea campaign has started. "Prices are good, around €2-2.50. In addition, the first pepper transplants have also started. We hope that the campaign will be good. Harvesting should start in late May, weather permitting, but production should peak around June 15th."
