May asks for further extension, Tusk suggests 'flextention'

The UK Prime Minister has written to The European Union to ask for a further delay, the UK is set to leave on 12th April but still no withdrawal deal has been agreed by MPs. May hopes to have agreement on a deal before the European Parliamentary elections on 23th May but has said the UK would prepare to field candidates just in case.

Donald Tusk, European Council President is proposing to offer the UK a 12 month “flexible” extension, he will put this before EU leaders at next week’s summit.

Meanwhile it is said the talks between Labour and the Conservatives have been productive and will continue on Friday.
