The House of Commons voted out all four options during the indicative votes on Monday evening. Just as last Wednesday, none of the options achieved a majority. May’s original deal has also been voted down three times by parliament. The option to remain in the customs union with the EU was rejected by the smallest majority.
The four options that were voted on yesterday were: holding another referendum on Brexit, two proposals for a soft-Brexit and one for a referendum on the deal with Brussels. The indicative vote is not binding, but is intended to guide May and her government towards a possible solution.
Deadline in eleven days
What will happen next is unclear. If nothing happens, the country will leave the EU in 11 days without any agreement. May’s deal, which has already been voted out three times, may be discussed again this week.
"No deal-Brexit more likely"
According to Brexit main negotiator, Barnier, a scenario without a deal has become more likely in recent days. "Nevertheless, we hope that a no-deal Brexit can still be avoided. The EU is still prepared to recognize Britain as a member of a customs union same as Norway."
