Mucci Farms trialing new compostable and recyclable packaging options

An exciting week lies ahead with CPMA’s annual tradeshow and convention taking place in Montreal, QC. At this year’s show, Mucci Farms will be focusing on its Cutecumber Poppers, Fresh Mix and a new packaging series called Simple Snack. “We are trialing and will be soft launching our Simple Snack Series in Montreal. Simple Pack Simple Snack, to add to our Sustainably greenhouse grown fruits and vegetables.” says Fernanda Albuquerque, New Product Development Manager at Mucci Farms. SIMPLE is an acronym for Sustainable Innovation Made Purposely for our Living Environment. “With a recent push towards more sustainable packaging, we’ve decided to add to our existing lineup. We currently use fibre trays for select items in our Natural Organics line, and now we’re looking to expand biodegradable and compostable options with our conventional items.” The Simple Snack series will feature a few of the company’s signature snacking items. The Simple Pack is made of cardboard with 100% recyclable lidding film. There is only surface printing on the film with no lamination, which is what allows it to be fully recyclable.

Cutecumber Poppers meet convenience demand
In addition to the focus on compostable and recyclable packaging, Mucci Farms will be bringing its Cutecumber Poppers to Montreal. The snack cucumber product was introduced to the market last year and immediately won an Innovation Award at United Fresh as well as the People’s Choice Award at the Leamington Fair Greenhouse Competition. “It’s clear that snacking and convenience are trends that have been rising for several years, and Poppers have reinforced those market demands,” mentioned Emily Murracas, Director of Marketing. “First and foremost, it’s a delicious cucumber that’s fresh and crunchy with great flavour. Added value is that it’s easy to pack, easy to store and there’s no prep required.” Cutecumber Poppers are currently available in various retailers across North America.

Eco Lounge at CPMA show floor
Mucci Farms is looking forward to CPMA’s annual tradeshow and convention. “This show gives us a great opportunity to create new relationships and continue to build on existing partnerships we currently have,” Emily said. “We expect it to be well attended as Montreal is a fantastic city that is surely going to attract lots of attendees. As we do every year, we hope to reinforce Mucci Farms as a leading Canadian greenhouse company.”

The company will once again sponsor the relaxation lounge, which they have renamed this year to the ECO Lounge. Unlike Vancouver and Toronto, the lounge this year is actually located on the show floor between aisles 2000 and 2100. “Like every year, we have branded the lounge to fit the spirit of the show,” said Emily. “With sustainability being amongst the hottest topics in the produce industry, attendees can look forward to the “ECO” Lounge. Tables, chairs and a variety of décor will all be made of sustainable materials including cardboard and repurposed pallet wood.” When in Montreal, make sure to visit the relaxation lounge between isles 2000 and 2100 and stop by Mucci’s booth #1715.
