Price of good-quality grapes reaches 17 yuan [2.53 USD] per kg

China: Summer Black grapes from Jianshui enter market in bulk

The early-season grapes from Jianshui County entered the market in the last week of February. Their market supply has significantly increased since then. First-grade Summer Black grapes sell for 17 yuan [2.53 USD] per kg, which is quite similar to last year. Farmers state that the unique weather conditions in Jianshui County are perfect for grape production and can not be reproduced in other areas. They began harvesting the early-season grapes on February 25th, 2019. Top-grade grapes then sold for 28-30 yuan [4.17-4.47 USD] per kg, and first-grade grapes sold for 24-26 yuan [3.58-3.87 USD] per kg. The price then began to fall as the supply volume increased.

Nanzhuang Town in Jianshui County was elected the model-village for early-season grapes in 2017. The overall surface area for grape production already exceeds 6,667 hectares. The grapes are mainly sold in Nanning, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Ningbo, Jiaxing, Chongqing, Beijing, and Harbin, and also exported to Vietnam, and Thailand. The early-season grapes from Jianshui County continue to gain fame and influence in the grape market.
