Verona was also hit by frost

Austria: Spectacular images of anti-frost system

In the past few days, the company Biohof Schloffer has published pictures of the effects of the anti-frost system operated against a night frost that took place last Friday in Austria. The company stated that the temperatures were not very low, approximately 4°C, but the system has preserved the gems from possible damage.

The use of the scattered anti-frost system does not represent a novelty, as the heat released during the passage of state has been exploited for decades. According to the law of conservation of energy, the latent heat of fusion is returned to the surrounding environment (from the unit of mass of the substance) during the passage from the liquid state to the solid state, ie solidification. This heat released preserves the gems.

Last week, even in the area of Verona, frosts were recorded. In Zevio, the temperatures dropped to 2.2 ° C. It is difficult to quantify the damage on stone fruits, as the low temperature affects the duration of the exposure.
