“The market for both Greenskins and Hass avocados is currently good,” says Elena Rogojnikova of Hagé International. “Volumes from Israel have dropped because their season has ended. Sales of Fuerte from Peru and South Africa are excellent, prices are high at 9 to 9.50 euro.”
The first Hass avocados from Peru and South Africa are expected in the first week of April. “After an enormous amount of Hass avocados from Peru and South Africa last year, it’s expected South Africa will now send 30% fewer Hass avocados. Peru’s expecting to send their usual volumes,” Elena continues.
“The first containers with large volumes of ZZ2 from South Africa were unloaded in week 11 and 12. South Africa started earlier than usual this year. The contents of the containers had been sold before they were even unloaded. The quality of this great brand is excellent at the start of the season,” Elena concludes.
