Xiamen harbor imported 47 thousand tons of Taiwanese fruit in 2018

China opened up for fruit imports from Taiwan in 2005. Since then the volume of Taiwanese fruit imported through the Xiamen harbor rapidly increased from 207 tons in 2005 to 47 thousand tons in 2018, with a value of 86.16 million USD. That is a 226-fold growth between 2005 and 2018. The percentage of Taiwanese fruit imported to China through Xiamen also increased from 14.5% to 90%. Xiamen harbor has been the most important port for Taiwanese fruit import for 11 years in a row.

The value of aquatic products imported from Taiwan through Xiamen also grew from 2,500 USD to 66.98 million USD. In other words, the value increased 27,000-fold in 11 years. Xiamen is the most convenient harbor for Taiwanese export, because it is ideally located for transport from Gaoxiong harbor in Taiwan.
