10 years of sponsoring postharvest technology

Catalytic Generators and sister company, QA Supplies are sponsoring the UC Postharvest Technology Center Fruit Ripening & Ethylene Management Workshop for the 11th year April 2-3, 2019.

“Sponsoring this event allows our business to support the amazing efforts of the UC Davis Postharvest Technology Center! Furthermore, it’s all about what we do,” said Greg Akins, President & CEO of Catalytic Generators. When asked how attending the upcoming workshop is beneficial, Akins stated, “Most attendees need to know where’s the best place to buy equipment for ethylene application, or quality assurance tools to test fruit maturity. It is vital for us to be there with resources in hand, demonstrate their proper use and to answer questions, and over the years, attendees have found it helpful for us to be there!”

Catalytic Generators manufactures ethylene generators and Ethy-Gen II Ripening Concentrate, used to initiate the ripening process of many fruits. QA Supplies provides hundreds of products in relation to the quality assurance of fresh produce and other perishables in various environmental conditions. Both companies have sponsored the UC Postharvest Technology Center Fruit Ripening & Ethylene Management Workshop since 2008.

“UC Davis has continually been an expert in postharvest research and education for several decades. Their workshop is an excellent resource for anyone in the fresh produce industry looking to learn more about how to grow, store, and maintain quality produce,” said Russ Holt, Sales & Marketing Manager at QA Supplies. Holt continued, “We see a wide range of people from all segments of fresh produce, so it’s an excellent opportunity for our business to learn from them and understand what new products they are looking for.”

Participants of the workshop come from all over the world. Steve Page, Vice President of Catalytic Generators stated, “There was a large international presence at the event last year, so you get to hear about the industry from different perspectives by location. Importers, exporters, and growers for local consumption all come together to discuss the latest in fresh produce and ripening technology. It’s truly an exquisite experience!”

Attendees will have the opportunity to network with ripening professionals, discover and view demonstrations of recent technological advances in the industry, and participate in round-table discussions. Topics discussed in previous years include the importance of ripening programs, ripening facilities and equipment, temperature management, fruit development, maturity and quality relationships, and the biology of ethylene production.
