Renewal though international cooperation

An international first: thanks to an international cooperation, ripening plants become even safer. BG Door International realised a gasproof safety door thanks to the cooperation with new company Ecotop Ripening Australia. They provide the Australian and New Zealand market with modern ripening chamber technology in cooperation with local partners from Melbourne. A special safety requirement from Australia led to this innovation.

Jan van Kessel, manager of BG Door International: “For us, the windows in the gasproof sectional doors meet the requirements of escape doors, but it was insufficiently safe for Australian terms. A wicket in the ripening chamber door was an absolute must for them. To prevent leakage, which occurs with regular wickets, we developed a ripening chamber door that has been equipped with a special, gasproof wicket. It’s a first on the market and the new standard in the field of safety, and our customers in other countries can also profit from it.”

The wicket has been completely integrated in the sectional door and also offers easy access to product control, among other things. The integrated wicket meets class 6 breathable-ness and the strictest safety requirements in emergency situations. The gasproof wickets of BG Door are available in grey-white as a standard, but also in many other colours, if so desired, such as the yellow colour demonstrated during the latest Fruit Logistica in Berlin.

BG Door also developed a new product for the set-up of the ripening chambers. For an even better control of the ripening process, adjustable curtains have been developed. These are operated electrically, and their height can be adjusted in order to guarantee an optimal air flow when using different pallet heights. “A wonderful new innovation for an even better control of the ripening process. New and existing ripening chambers can now also easily be equipped with adjustable pallets when they’re only partly loaded,” Jan says.

“Whether it’s about technical improvements or new products, we’re always looking for ways to innovate and anticipate changing demand from the market. Flexibility and innovation are important pillars for us, and we enjoy translating that into success for our customers.”
