A first in Cologne's Globus market: biofruit Academy is launched

"We are experiencing a strong increase in demand for premium Organic"

The biofruit Academy is being launched. The activities of biofruit GmbH, a company that specializes in the marketing of premium organic fruits and excellent organic vegetables, are aimed directly at consumers in the supermarket. They should learn how diverse, culinary valuable and nutrient-rich nourishment can be when using organic products. The company has hired a gourmet cook just for this. She will conjure up dishes, made with organic products. that anyone can cook at home.

Several dozen visitors crowded in on Tuesday in the fruit and vegetable department of the Globus market, just in order to see well-known gourmet cook Petra Baudis-Wiedenhöfer. Several courses were prepared as part of the "Organic Tasting", where dishes were tasted, consumed and evaluated straight away. The recipes were also made available for everyone, and there was an "organic goody bag" with regional products for every participant.

"Increasing demand for premium Organic"
"We want to promote organic products and make it clear that organic nutrition can be very valuable." Bio, that is no longer just dingy - on the contrary: We are experiencing a strong increase in demand for premium organic," says biofruit CEO Dirk Salentin. His company not only supplies supermarkets with organic fruit and organic vegetables, but also looks after its ideal presentation in the market. In many markets, biofruit even stages its own 'organic world' as a shop-in-shop solution. Demand and sales have multiplied in many places.

"Shopping is becoming more and more of an experience today, and those who do not go to discounters expect a particularly sophisticated product range and outstanding product presentation. That is even more so for organic products in the fresh department," says Salentin, who also said he wants to bridge the gap between the supermarket and the consumer with his biofruit Academy.

Trust in the 'Organic' label
Expectations of sustainability and transparency are growing, and information is important in cementing confidence in the 'Organic' label. So this is a task supermarkets must address today. Currently, an outstandingly well-sorted fruit and vegetable department, especially with organic products, is almost the only chance for a supermarket to distinguish itself from a discounter.

And so these organic tastings, which will take place regularly in various supermarkets in the Rhineland in the future, will have several positive aspects: The consumers get to know the differences in quality of conventional and organic goods, their shopping experience is strengthened and valuable information will be exchanged. "Eating, that's living," says Salentin. The visitors of the "Organic Tasting" events seem to recognize this, as reactions were consistently positive.
