Peru will exported up to 50 million boxes of grapes by end of this season

Peru will have exported 50 million boxes of table grapes (of 8.2 kilos each box) by the end of this campaign (2018/2019), stated the general manager of the Association of Producers of Table Grapes of Peru (Provid), Carlos Zamorano Macchiavello.

He stressed that these shipments represent an increase of 51.5% over the previous campaign (2017/2018), when exports amounted to 33 million boxes. In addition, the volume exported exceeded the projected target of 45 million boxes and became a record in shipments of this fruit.

He highlighted that the main markets for table grapes from Peru were the United States, China, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

He also noted that the percentage of participation of the Reg Globe grape in the 2018/2019 campaign continued to decrease with respect to total shipments, however, this variety had important returns in the current campaign.

Carlos Zamorano said that half of the 50 million boxes shipped out in this campaign came from the north of the country and the other half from the south.
