E.Leclerc recalls frozen green beans at risk of containing a poisonous herb

The French hypermarket chain E.Leclerc is recalling several batches of extra-fine frozen green beans of the brand “Notre Jardin”, sold in 1 kg packages. These beans present a risk of containing a poisonous herb, the datura, found in the fields.

The plant contains seeds with “high levels of tropane alkaloids (atropine and scopolamine), natural plant substances used in pharmacology. But these alkaloids are toxic. They affect the central nervous system (excitation, hallucination, disorientation), the vision and the heart (tachycardia).”

The products in question have the batch numbers: 8352M - 12/2020 - 8031M - 12/2019 and 01/2020.
