Solution consists of 50% fast growing grass

Green label - with labels made of grass paper

In addition to FSC- and PEFC-certified labels, K-D Hermann GmbH is now offering an even more sustainable material in the field of self-adhesive labels; these are labels made of grass paper. The production of the paper for the labels is particularly environmentally friendly, because they are made for up to 50% of the fast-growing raw material that is grass. It also uses less water, energy and chemicals and is cracking down on the CO2 emissions generally produced during label production. The grass paper in question is recyclable, compostable, FSC certified and approved for direct food contact, according to ISEGA rules and regulations. The labels are available for industrial and commercial applications.

Especially environmentally friendly material
The grass paper used is 50% FSC Mix certified pulp and 50% sun dried grass. The grass is obtained from extensively unused meadows from the immediate vicinity to the paper mill. The raw material, which is renewable several times a year, and its short transport distances lead to a very good ecobalance of the grass paper.

What makes the material especially "green" is the environmentally friendly production. Since half of the grass paper is made of virgin fiber material, this can significantly reduce the need for water. Less than one liter of water is needed per ton of grass fiber - instead of 6000 liters per ton in the conventional production of wood pulp. The manufacturing process can also save up to 80% of the energy required. One ton of grass pulp produces only about 150 kW/h - with one ton of wood pulp 6000 kW/h. Positive side effect of water and energy savings: a CO2 reduction of approx. 4.8 tonnes. For the production of grass fibers neither mineral oils nor chemicals are needed. This grass paper hardly has any negative environmental footprint and can be fully recycled.

Ecological inside and out
Grass paper labels of K-D Hermann GmbH are not only ecological, but also offer an ecologically high-quality appearance. The special color and structure of the material ensure a unique look and feel of the labels. The green-brown color and the rough, uneven surface of the paper can be associated with bio, nature, naturalness, environment, environmental protection and sustainability. Therefore, grass paper labels are particularly well-suited for labeling high-quality products, where the aforementioned associations are to be created at the customer - for example, sustainable and / or organic food, drinks or cosmetics.

Grasspaper labels from K-D Hermann GmbH can be used both for industrial labeling and for price labeling at the point of sale. For labeling with hand-marking devices, common label formats are already available. Other formats are in preparation. The labels can be produced either blank or printed, for example the company logo of the customer.
