The price of dwarf bananas in Guangdong production areas has recently shown a downward trend in comparison with the same period last year. High-quality dwarf bananas sell at less than 6 yuan [0.89 USD] per kg. Only a tiny fraction of the production volume is sold at prices between 6-6.5 yuan [0.89-0.97 USD] per kg.
People in the industry point out that the supply volume of dwarf bananas from Zhanjiang, Guangdong, gradually increases as the weather warms up, but the price remains low. This creates competition with dwarf bananas from the Pearl River Delta. However, supply from the Pearl River Delta has not yet reached its peak. The next peak period of banana supply from Guangdong comes within a month or two, around Chinese Tomb Sweeping Day [April 5th, 2019].
