Innovative thinking encourages the export of Vietnamese agricultural products to China

The Vietnamese agricultural industry and the Agricultural Product Processing and Market Development Bureau, part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, predict that in 2019 Vietnamese food products will meet with the strict requirements of the Chinese market. Bureau chief Ruan Guozuan stated that China is no longer an amicable, easy-going "customer". The demands of Chinese consumers for premium quality and food safety continue to increase.

With the exception of China, Vietnamese agricultural export to traditional markets grew stronger in 2018 in comparison with 2017, but, according to Ruan Guozuan, China is strengthening border control and even closing the border in some areas.

Vietnamese fruit

Vietnam has export permission for 8 types of fresh fruit: dragon fruit, watermelon, lychee, longan, banana, mango, pineapple, and rambutan. Vietnam is currently in the progress of negotiating permission for durian, pomelo, passion fruit, sweet potato, coconut, custard apple, wax apple, and mangosteen, in the hope that their strength in tropical fruit will open up new markets.

"The Chinese side has agreed to consider our proposal, but at the same time, they require us to improve relevant fruit management technology, which will speed up the process," stated Ruan Guozuan. China and Vietnam both attach a lot of importance to trade relations. This will improve the market standard, production capacity, and the adaptability of farmer's markets.

In addition, Chinese e-commerce is flourishing, and Ruan Guozuan therefore encourages Vietnamese companies to take advantage of this marketing channel to improve their professional activities in the Chinese market.
