Honduran banana exports between January and November 2018 amounted to 473.2 million dollars, i.e. 3.5 million more than in the same period of the previous campaign due to the 6.8 percent increase in price ($ 30.1 million), despite the 5.7 percent ($ 26.6 millions) decrease in volume. International prices favor this export product, a trend that does not occur in the case of other goods, such as coffee, palm oil, and sugar.
The country mainly exports its bananas to the United States, according to a report from the Central Bank of Honduras. In general, the income originated from the export of agricultural products totalled 738.4 million dollars, i.e. 19.5 million more than in the same period of the previous year; bananas, legumes and vegetables stand out due to their importance. During 2018, Honduran bananas penetrated Russia and the Ukraine with good success, in the context of the expansion and search for new markets.
