"The number and variety of Australian cherries entering China has increased"

Australian Cherries have always been respected for their unique planting environment, high standard of planting technology, excellent quality and taste. Mr. Tom Eastlake, President of the Australian Cherry Planting Association, said: “We think that freshness is very important for this delicate fruit, which is why we insist on air transport rather than shipping. Australia and China are close neighbors. The flight to Australia takes only 10 hours from Beijing or Shanghai, which allows Australia to ship fresh cherries to China in the shortest possible time, faster than any other country that exports cherries to China. The result is that they are superior in terms of freshness, shelf life, size and sweetness."

“Thanks to the improvement of the free trade agreement, this year is the first time that Australian cherries and Tasmanian cherries have entered China. This has also brought a lot of positive effects. The number and variety of Australian cherries entering China have increased, traders and consumers have more choices, and the supply opportunities for high-quality imported fruits has also expanded. The bigger news is that since January 1, 2019, China and Australia have achieved tariff  exemption on a mutual basis. It will further promote the export of Australian fruit to the Chinese market."

“Australia has cherries grown in six states with a total production of 16,000 tons. Victoria, New South Wales and Tasmania  are the largest cherry growing regions, and there are complementary supply windows in these three regions. The microclimate in these areas creates excellent quality, rich color, and eye-catching quality, Australian fruit.

"

“So far, the Australian cherry harvest in 2019 is in good condition, with high sugar content, stable taste and overall size. As a popular premium fruit, the supply of Australian cherries is limited. It is usually produced between October and February each year, so in order to meet the needs of consumers, especially during the Spring Festival holiday, it is very important to order in advance."

Recently, Australian cherry industry exchange activities were held in Guangzhou and Shanghai. The chairman of the Australian Cherry Plantation Association, Tom Eastlake, said: The Australian Cherry Exporters Delegation and the Chinese fruit importer and fruit industry veteran were gathered under one roof. Taste Australia is a national brand representing the entire Australian horticultural industry. It aims to promote the export of Australia's fresh produce through major export markets, including China, and expand the demand for fresh Australian produce in the export market. Under the banner of Taste Australia, this year's Australian Cherry Exchange aims to promote the freshness of Australia's popular seasonal fruits. The event will also showcase Australia's original environment, growing conditions, production methods and supply chain characteristics.
