Masseria Fruttirossi: We produce 100% pomegranate juice

"The 2018 season was characterised by unfavourable weather conditions for pomegranate production. Intense cold in spring, torrid heat in summer, excessive humidity, strong winds and significant summer storms, even with flashes of hail, prevented us from meeting our expectations in terms of both volume and quality”. Thus says Dario De Lisi, commercial manager of Masseria Fruttirossi, an Apulian business that has distinguished itself throughout the Italian continental territory for its strategic know-how.

"Despite this, we can define the 2018 season as very positive and full of important events. Among these, it is worth mentioning the inauguration of the Masseria Fruttirossi agri-food factory on the 2nd of October 2018. The inauguration gave rise to the official processing, transformation and marketing of Lome Super Fruit brand products (orders are currently handled by the sales office of B&B Frutta from Bussolengo -VR) and to the activation of the new refrigerated cells with controlled atmosphere that have allowed us to make the fresh fruit available throughout the month of January".

"The numerous orders received during the campaign just ended have reduced the availability of fresh fruit, making stocks run out earlier than expected. With the next harvest in 2019, forecasting a volume of about 3,700 tons and thanks to conservation technologies, we will be able to have fresh fruit available also in February, ensuring continuity of supply to our customers from September to February, with high quality standards and according to the founding principles of our company: 100% Italian product, very short supply chain and full traceability”.

Masseria Fruttirossi was an exhibitor at Fruit Logistica on 6-8 February 2019. Dario De Lisi himself and Davide De Lisi (production manager) were present at the fair in Berlin. "The absolute novelty for visitors and interested parties - explains Dario - was the possibility to test our 100% Italian pomegranate juices in both versions: the juice obtained by the chilled process (HPP) and the "ambient" version, treated with the classic pasteurization process. Our juices are different both for the concept of short-chain and for their "purity" because their only ingredient is fresh pomegranate, without additives, flavours, preservatives or added sugar, thus characterizing themselves as unique in the industry. In addition, we cold-press only the arils and not the skin (the latter separated during the processing phases) in order to make the juice more pleasant, reducing the sense of astringency on the palate.

"We believe it is important to participate in international trade fairs, as they are a useful tool for spreading awareness of "made in Italy" products across the border. Italy produces many great products, but the affirmation as a leading producer can be made only through those good practices that allow the customer to perceive the goodness of the entire project. In a nutshell, it is not enough to propose only a quality product, but it is also necessary to know how to present, tell and enhance it through certifications proving the respect of the most stringent rules in terms of healthiness and traceability, to protect the final consumer. These are aspects that producers in other countries, especially outside Europe, cannot always guarantee".

"In short, Italian "good taste", a characteristic that makes us recognizable throughout the world, must be perceived in every aspect, to make us successful players in the market.
