As of 1 February, Harrij Schmeitz will step away from GroentenFruit Huis, the Frug I Com Foundation, and the Fresh Information Management Center (FIC). The digitalization of the fruit and vegetable sector is an important strategic matter for GroentenFruit. It has a fixed place in their 2019 Year Plan.
Over the past few years, Harrij and his colleagues have made a significant contribution in this area. They helped to implement the Frug I Com Foundation's activities. They also assisted with the activities inFresh-Upstream, Tuinbouw Digitaal, etc. All these were solely in the area of digitizing the fruit and vegetable chain.
Harrij has laid down his mantle as the FIC's Director. In this way, he is paving the way to work with these institutions on a different basis in the coming years. As an innovator, Harrij can continue to contribute to digitalization within the fruit and vegetable sector.
GroentenFruit Huis has incorporated its work in the area of GLN codes into the Frug I Com Foundation. It has also brought its development of a digital messaging system under the wing of this foundation. For GroentenFruit Huis members, work will carry on as usual within the Frug I Com Foundation.
GroentenFruit Huis/Frug I Com will continue its partnership with involved parties, such as GS1. Efforts in the area of standardization are a must if this association wants to retain its prominent position, as a sector, in the world of international trade.
