Focus on sustainability and new concepts for the agriculture of the future

Business France accompanies 162 exhibitors at Fruit Logistica this year

Germany remains an important market for France: the total volume of fruit and vegetable exports in 2017 was 326,000 tons, including 139,000 tons of fruits for 206 million euros [235 million USD], of which 50% were apples and 20% apricots. The same year, 187,000 tons of vegetables were exported for 235 million euros [268 million USD]. The main export products were lettuce, cauliflower, peas, shallots, onions and tomatoes.

The sector has fixed major goals for itself: increasing the competitiveness of French products by investing in innovation, exploiting the benefits of those products in terms of healthy and responsible nutrition, and increasing the consumers’ orientation towards health, well-being, naturalness and biodiversity. “Zero-pesticide residue” is a hot topic in France, supported, among others, by the Nouveaux Champs initiative. Its 46 current members, many of whom will be present at the fair, practice a cultivation of fruits and vegetables that is free of residues and environmentally friendly, a concept to develop for the efficient conventional agriculture of tomorrow.

Among the exhibitors: Végépolys, a center of excellence in the vegetable sector, which promotes economic growth, the creation of research partnerships and new companies by networking all the players. The firms are also accompanied by regional partners such as the Région Hauts de France, Sud de France, Région Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur, Food Loire, Dev’up Centre Val de Loire, Sud-Ouest and Région Rhône-Alpes. The regional partners are the first point of contact at the fair for cross-product issues.

Hall 22, Stand C-07: Business France
Business, culinary tastings and entertainment will all take place at the Business France booth in the middle of Hall 22. A team of eight experts of the sector from different countries will be available for information and marketing advice. The products to be tasted range from smoothies to warm dishes and desserts. Further information on the food selection can be found on the Business France website intended for the fair.

“French Party”
On Wednesday, February 6th, from 5.30 to 7.30pm, the entire Hall 22 will be dedicated to the French Party. Exhibitors and professional visitors are cordially invited to come discover the culinary delicacies of the French chef Gustave. Also on the program: a prize draw and the music selection from a live DJ in the Hall 22.
