Danespo opens new potato center in Denmark

Last week, the Danish potato company, Danespo, opened a new complex. It houses their head office and breeding station. Here, potato plants for the future will be developed.

This new potato center is located in a business park in the Danish town of Give. It comprises a 1.000m2 office building, 2.000m2 breeding facilities as well as a greenhouse complex of 1.500 m2.

At this new complex, Danespo wants to boost the development and breeding of new potato varieties. This will include seed potatoes as well as potatoes for consumption. “We are an important player on the global market. We want to lead the way with new developments", says Danespo's Director, Jens Holstborg.

"In this way, we can increase our competitiveness, nationally and internationally. For modern plant breeding, you need innovative laboratory technology. Our new breeding station offers all the facilities needed for the essential work done in the biotechnological field. We also collaborate with the universities as well as two of our main shareholders, DLF and Florimond Desprez.”
