The organic market in the European Union

A survey by the French television channel France 2 has highlighted the differences in the organic market within the European Union.

While stores are in full economic war on the topic, the consumption of organic products in the European Union amounts to 29.1 billion euros [33 million USD], a 12.4% increase from last year. First on the European organic market is Germany.

“70% of the organic products are consumed by 4 countries: Germany, France, Italy and Great-Britain. But it is the Danes, the Austrians and the Swedes who shop the most organic products daily. 9.7% of the daily shopping cart for the Danes, compared to 3.5% for the French, which is a lot less,” explains Jihane Benzina, France 2 journalist.
