Chinese market for Shatang oranges looks gloomier this year

Last year around this time the Shatang orange market reached its mid-point. This year the supply of Shatang oranges from Guangxi Province, which entered the market in December, 2018, is both disappointing in volume and in speed.

People in the industry state that more than 70% of the Shatang orange production volume has not yet been sold. In previous years around this time more than 60% had been sold. In other words, in previous years around this time the sales volume was twice the size of the sales volume this year. Furthermore, data shows that fewer visiting traders purchase Shatang oranges this year.

One thing is for sure, the orange industry reached a turning point in 2018 and the market prospects for 2019 look gloomy.
