Fruit wholesale flourishes as Chinese Spring Festival approaches

Business is booming at the Jiaxing Fruit Wholesale Market even though the Chinese Spring Festival [February 5th, 2019] is still two weeks away. Large volumes of Hami melons arrive every day, with the main supply currently coming from Hainan. Their price is not bad either.

Apart from melons, there are also pears and apples from Xinjiang and oranges from Jiangxi. These are the main seasonal fruits in the domestic market. As for imported fruits, cherries currently sell well. Their main supply comes from Chile. The daily sales volume is around 2,700 boxes of 5 kg each at a wholesale price around 350 yuan [51.53 USD]. The peak period of sales is expected to take place on January 27th, 2019.

The trade volume of domestic fruit in the wholesale fruit market increased by 17% since the beginning of January. The trade volume of imported fruit increased by 38%.
