Low producer prices make it difficult for Lake Constance growers

Germany: "Despite large stocks, many foreign apples are on the shelves"

"Despite large stocks in the fruit growers' stores, in the last few weeks food retailers are finding a great deal of foreign apples on the shelves," reported Dietmar Bahler from the Verband vom Obst vom Bodensee in Friedrichshafen on Friday. And it was not just in Germany that the fruit harvest was good last year, but abroad as well. This automatically means lower prices.

Good private garden yields as well
For the past season, the association in the Bodensee region in September expected a harvest of about 262,000 tons. The latest figures are still unavailable. In the region there are almost 1000 farms with about 9000 hectares of fruit acreage, and as there were good yields in private gardens as well, this also means fewer sales.
