Interko upgrades coolers for Ultimo fruit ripening rooms

Interko, designer, manufacturer and installer of fresh fruit ripening rooms, announced an important service and maintainability upgrade to its Ultimo room, the flagship system that evenly and efficiently ripens large volumes of fruit, such as bananas.

Thanks to ongoing technological improvements made by the Interko team, now customers of all Ultimo rooms can more easily replace the fans installed within the room’s coolers in the case of an issue.

A new component within the coolers allows customers to quickly and easily see parts on inspection, while an overall quality improvement to the fan technology has made the coolers more foolproof on the whole.

The upgrade forms part of Interko’s plans to hone its expertise in the field of fruit ripening.

“This year at Interko we are focusing our efforts on developing an increasingly integrated service,” reveals Chris Maat, Managing Director/Partner of Interko.

“As a first step, we are looking at the serviceability and maintainability of our systems.

“Throughout 2019 we will deliver further improvements that will make it easier for our customers to both service and maintain the technologies that we design, manufacture and install.

“This is about reinforcing the quality and reliability of our systems; by delivering technology that is built to last.”

Chris explains: “Since 1968 Interko has proudly remained at the forefront of designing, manufacturing and installing the most innovative fresh fruit ripening and cooling technology in the world. And 2019 will be no different.

“As part of our ongoing growth plan we will be unveiling additional innovations throughout the year. So, watch this space!”

Already, Interko has experienced a landmark anniversary year in 2018, having completed its state-of-the-art portfolio of fruit ripening rooms to answer the requirements of any importer, distributor, retailer or wholesaler.

In July (2018), Interko launched its brand-new, turn-key ripening room called Optimo, which can be adapted to ripen from 8 up to 24 pallets of fresh bananas, avocados or mangoes.

This complements two pre-existing rooms in the Interko range: Ultimo, the classic system for large loads of fruit, and Axesso, the interchangeable system for precision ripening.

Next month, Optimo will be showcased for the first time at Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Germany, on 6-8 February, 2019.

Interko is exhibiting in Hall 1.2 on Stand D-12 – the same location as last year.

Chris Maat, together with Anna Zegveld, Senior Business Development Manager; and Dan Miller, Commercial Office Coordinator, will attend the show across the three days.

Chris comments: “We will be bringing the world’s attention to the new global standard in turn-key ripening.

“Optimo is a highly efficient, cost-effective and profitable ripening room that is not only fast and easy to install but can be adapted quickly to suit the changing volume requirements as per market demand.”

In just six months, Interko has already received a number of new orders, as well as repeat orders, for the Optimo system.

Chris says: “We’ve had a very positive start. Our customers like Optimo’s entrance level costs, flexibility, functionality, and, importantly, the quality of ripening it delivers. They are coming back for more!

“While Optimo is still a new system, we are already delivering improvements on the first generation of this ripening room as we strive for enhanced serviceability and maintainability in 2019.”
