Kemal Kacmaz, head of the National Citrus Council said that mandarin export ranked first among citrus. He indicated that Turkey exported 2 million 22 thousand 87 tons of citrus and earned 893 million USD (774,8 million Euro) in return.
Kacmaz evaluated 2018 citrus export numbers in a written statement: "Last year we exported 194 thousand 660 tons of grapefruit, 634 thousand 897 tons of lemons, 448 thousand 59 tons of oranges and 744 thousand 418 tons of mandarin."
Kacmaz stated that the export of citrus is increased by 21% compared to last year. Then, he indicated that Russia imported 584 tons of citrus which made the country the top importer of Turkish citrus:
"Russia is followed by Iraq, Ukraine and Romania. The export to Hungary has increased by 140% and this was followed by Bulgaria (%76), Poland (&71), Italy (%67) and the Czech Republic (%66). We are content with the increase in citrus export to the European countries. This shows that Turkish citrus producers and exporters meet global standards."
Kacmaz added that citrus sector contributes to the economy and creates more jobs.
