Casino wants to develop new Marché Frais stores

Founded by the Quatrucci family, Marché Frais is a network of a dozen of convenience stores specialized in the distribution of fresh products. For the moment, the brand is mainly located in and around Paris and has already generated no less than 300 million euros [350 million USD] in revenue in 2018 across all thirteen stores.

In October, a partnership was signed with the Casino group, which means that the 12 O’Marché Frais supermarkets will now get their high consumption products from the Stéphanois warehouses. Additionally, seven hypermarkets O’Marché Frais will be renamed Marché Frais Géant, while the five smaller supermarkets will change their name to Marché Frais Leader Price.

The stores have a surface area of 43,000 to 65,000 square feet and offer a great range of fruits and vegetables. The products are presented flat and there is an area dedicated to large parcels as well as a fresh-packaged section, rather short and centered on large rotations. For the sake of optimization, part of the stock is stored directly in the supermarket, on racks above the shelves.

The Casino group is planning to introduce these new stores to the suburbs and to popular neighborhoods. The goal is to reach a modest clientele by offering a range of fruits, vegetables and meat at low prices, while guaranteeing an outstanding quality.
