The walnuts account for 286 thousand hectares with a production volume of 1.16 million tons and a production value of 31.8 billion yuan [4.6 billion USD]. The overall surface area devoted to macadamia nut production reached 174 thousand hectares with a production volume of 16 thousand tons and a production value of 480 million yuan [69.65 million USD]. Yunnan is the world's largest producer and main distributor of walnuts and macadamia nuts.
