Annual fruit production value in Yunnan reached 13.7 billion yuan last year

Information from the 2018 Yunnan green food news conference for the "10 famous fruits" shows that the overall surface area devoted to fruit plantation in Yunnan reached 526 thousand hectares in 2017 with a production volume of 7.4 million tons and a production value of 13.7 billion yuan [2 billion USD]. Yunnan is the number one province in China when it comes to fruit product variety.

In addition, the overall surface area devoted to nut production in Yunnan reached 3 million hectares. The walnuts account for 286 thousand hectares with a production volume of 1.16 million tons and a production value of 31.8 billion yuan [4.6 billion USD]. The overall surface area devoted to macadamia nut production reached 174 thousand hectares with a production volume of 16 thousand tons and a production value of 480 million yuan [69.65 million USD]. Yunnan is the world's largest producer and main distributor of walnuts and macadamia nuts.
